Angela Guillaume’s Mile High To Heaven
One of the reasons why we write of Erotic Romance is to give our reader’s not a perfect kind of love but rather love as we see how it could be. Of course, there are the kinds of stories that go from point A to B equaling C, only revealing a fantasy of Love and Sex. Then there are personal stories that explore our undying hope that we can experience something rare in this world: unconditional, unselfish, and soul pounding love.
In today’s world, most everyone has this protective force field around their hearts. We guard ourselves from falling or giving too much of our true selves because most likely, it’s going to be painful, absurd and most likely break that very heart you been hiding. Nevertheless, no matter how hard we try to prevent ourselves from feeling anything or conceal how vulnerable we are to its clutches, we ache to let go.
Love will never be perfect. Some say it’s a terrible affliction and others say it is the only absolute truth we will ever know.
Angela Guillaume’s Mile High to Heaven is a short story about two people who find each other and let themselves fall for one another in an uncommon way, exploring something lacking in this world…honesty. They take a chance on something that can be incredible…letting go of your heart and letting it fall where it may.
The by-product of this honesty is steamy and down right explosive sex. Angela Guillaume further expounds this story by showing how trust and abandoning fear can lead to all around goodness and a story ending we yearn for… the ahhh that makes us smile.
A highlight for me in this story is that Heroine is not a societal ideal body type but the Hero finds what others see as imperfection as something sexy and exactly what he desires. Another is how straightforward the Hero is. He knows what he wants and he goes after it.
You’ll be amazed how Angela’s writing style will quickly sweep you in the story and with lines like,
“The way she saw it; it was preferable to play with a plastic object than a man with a plastic heart.”
In an interesting way, that line says to me a number of things. Mainly though, it says that the Heroine isn’t moved by casual indiscriminate sex. She knows it is pointless for her because cold unfeeling sex is no more satisfying than quick relations with an inanimate object. It alludes to the belief that truly fulfilling pleasure can only come from sharing the experience with someone that cares about you and vice versa.
In lines like those and many more you will easily identify, empathize and even cheer on her good luck of fate dropping this wonderful Hero in her lap.
I should mention just for disclosure Angela Guillaume is a terrific friend of mine, and like her debut story, she is enchantingly warm and grin educing.
On her website http://www.angelaguillaume.com/ , she tells you exactly what I know is to be true, that her
“…greatest passion and desire is to write stories, weave plots and create complex characters that will sweep you off your feet. I like to call my style, "Breathtaking Romance". If you want your romance "off the chain" hot and spicy, your heroes intense and strong (but not arrogant), and your heroines smart and gutsy (but not bitchy), you are definitely at the right place!”
Her debut story does this and more.
It is in Fiction if not found in Reality, that we can hope to find a world where Love and Sex reaches the heights of soul affirming exquisiteness.
